Etta James & An Apron

I was in the mood to bake last night- crazy baking like that one episode of Grey's Anatomy where Izzie bakes all of those muffins to escape her reality- that's just what I did. And it was magical!

I searched allrecipes.com for a good hour trying to find something that I could bake that didn't require me to go get AN egg, or A stick of butter... I don't like going to the store for one thing. I ended up finding a vanilla cupcake recipe and a cinnamon bun icing that ended up working just perfectly!

I added a little to the recipe, about 2-3 teaspoons of cinnamon spice, and about a cup of diced apples to give mine a fall-cinnamon-y flavor. I also sprinkled some cinnamon in the icing as well as on top of the cupcakes themselves. I brought them into work today and they were a hit!

I would like to say Gram, I believe I made you proud and have represented by true, Southern VA roots! Nothing in this world will ever top my Gram's homemade baking.... I'm drooling just thinking about it.
